Arthritis Knee Exercise for Pain Relief
Discovering the right arthritis knee exercise can mean all the difference in how you feel when you are involved in any activities that cause the knee joints to be working. Of course this usually includes every activity except sleeping!
If you have arthritis, knee exercise is essential! The knees appear to have a very simple job to do which is to bend and straighten the leg. Below are some exercises to get you started: Quad Sets: Before you get out of bed each day do some quadricep sets. The quads are four big muscles at the front of each thigh. These muscles straighten the knee. To perform a quad set keep the knee as straight as possible, tighten the front of the thigh muscles. hold for 5 seconds and then relax. Repeat 20 times to each leg. Heel Slides: Slowly and gently bend the knee sliding your heel toward your buttocks as far as possible. Hold for 7-10 seconds repeat 10 times to each leg. Straight Leg Raises: Keeping the knee as straight as you can do a quad set as mentioned above. Raise the leg 8-10 inces off the floor. Keep the opposite leg bent while raising the straight leg. Hold for 5 seconds and slowly lower while trying to touch the back of the knee to the floor first. This helps to keep the quads tightened while lowering. Do 2 sets of 10 repetitions on each leg. Cycling:This is a great arthritis knee exercise plan because it is very low-impact on the knees while the cyclic motion stimulates the cartilage within the joint helping to reduce the stiffness which is common in people with arthritis. It also provides the benefits of a good cardiovascular workout and helps to keep the weight off which is an added benefit to the knees. Recommended Products
